Bacon family Wills

I have made a study of the Bacon Wills & Inventories over the years, copies obtained from Lichfield Record Office & then had to pay a hand writing expert to transcribe them. They are interesting & give an idea what a farmer’s life was like in those days & what they possessed and left.
 
THOMAS BACON of Clay Lane, North Wingfield, Husbandman. Will dated 26 July 1637; bur North Wingfield. Executors  sons James & George. Witnesses- Giles Fowler & Thomas Walker.
 
AGNES BACON – WIDOW OF Henry of Nth Wingfield. Will dated 3 April 1598; bur Nth Wingfield.
Beneficiaries – sons Richard & John.Appointed assigns – Richard & John Bacon.
Overseers – Richard Alwood, brother; John Ryley of Tupton.
Witnesses – Richard Allwoode, George Braylesforth
 
HENRY BACON of Nth Wingfield, Husbandman. Will 12 Aug 1583; bur Nth Wingfield. Beneficiaries – sons Henry, Richard, John; dau Katherine.
Sole assignee Agnes, wife
Overseers – John Brelsford,  yeoman & bailiff to Francis Leake; Richard Alwood, bro-in-law.
Witnesses – John Brelsford, Richard Alwood, Nicholas Brelsford, George Brelsford.
 
ISABELL BACON of Clay Lane, Nth Wingfield; Will dated 14 July 1573; bur Nth Wingfield.
Beneficiaries – son Jon Bacon, dau Isabell.
 
WILLIAM BACON OF Nth Wingfield, Husbandman. Will dated 10 April 1561; bur Nth Wingfield.
Beneficiaries – sons Thomas, Robert, dau Mary & 3 others un-named.
 
ELIZABETH BACON – of Nth Wingfield; Administration dated 1557 granted to Isabel Bacon
 
JOAN BACON, widow of Nth Wingfield; Will dated 24 May 1556; bur Nth Wingfield.
Beneficiaries – sons Nicolas, William, John, Henry, daqus Catherine & Agnes, Margaret Horner & Parnell Bacon.
Overseers – brother Henry Hafelde, son Thomas, Richard Wagstaffe, John Peniston.
Witnesses – William Milner, Thomas Prestwyche
 
HENRY BACON of Nth Wingfield, Husbandman. Will dated 1551; bur Nth Winfield
Beneficiaries –Parnell Bacon, dau Elizabeth Unthanke , dau Annes; sons Henry, Robert, Thomas, William and wife Jone.
Witnesses – John Stevenson, Curate, Henry Hatfelde, Richard Bacon & Giles Cowley
 
WILLIAM BACON of Nth Wingfield, Husbandman; Will dated 1544; bur Nth Winfield.
Beneficiaries – Katherine, wife; William Bacon, nephew John Bacon, Elizabeth, sister-in-law; Jone Clay & Ellen Lee.
Execitors – Katherine & William Bacon.
Supervisors – brother Richard, William Clay, bro-in-law.
Witnesses – Sir John Fuller, Curate; Thomas Kyghley, Richard Bacon.
 
EDMUND BACON of Nth Wingfield, Husbandman; Will dated 28 May 1535; bur Nth Wingfield.
Beneficiaries – Sons Richard & William Bacon.
Witnesses – Sir John Fuller, Curate; Thomas Kyghley, William Hasseland
 
THOMAS BACON THE ELDER of Alton, Ashover. Husbandman. Made 11 January 1616 (1617 in modern dating). Proved 16 March in that year.
Sole executor son Godfrey Bacon. Witnesses Robert Redfearn & Godfrey Bore.
Body to be buried in the churchyard of Ashover.
Lease of farm to son Godfrey. Some livestock & money to son Thomas. And to grandchild Thomas Bacon one heifer.
