Researched by Mike Spencer.
During the half year ending 21 Sept 1844 a list of paupers relieved by the parishes of North Wingfield, Clay Lane, Stretton, Wingerworth and Woodthorpe was
circulated. It gave the name of the pauper(s) ages where listed, residence if not in the workhouse, cause of requiring relief, amount spent on relief for
those out of the workhouse, and for those in the workhouse, the number of days spent inside it.
John LEVICK the relieving officer added at the bottom of the list the following statement;
"The above List is Printed by order of the Board of Guardians; the attention of the Rate Payers is earnestly requested to it, that if any cases of imposition
appear, they may be immediately reported to the Board, by whom they will be investigated.
